A peaceful and silent place, perfect to unwind and recover
was searching for a silent place to recover from remaining European fatigue and weeks of Ayurvedic treatments. Initially I made a booking for one week at the Deepanjali retreat and in the end, I stayed on for almost two month….
The clean and quiet rooms, together with fresh, delicious and mouth-watering food including a great variety of Kerala and Ayurveda food, mostly organic, and always freshly made by a passionate and very talented chef, convinced me to stay and to unwind and relax in this save, green and harmonious setting and to do my excursion and adventure programs from there.
The Deepanjali retreat is away from mass tourism and the energies that goes with this kind of vacation industry. If you look for lots of actions, shows, distractions, pools, gyms, noise and artifices outside and inside yourself, then this isn’t quite the right place. Travellers in search of authenticity, silent seekers, meditative minds and sensitive souls however will love the place, the delicious fresh food and the ten minutes walking distance to the neighbouring rice fields where one can walk for hours and enjoy beautiful sunsets in the midst of an authentic Kerala village.
As I did my Panchakarma somewhere else, I am not able to judge the Ayurvedic Packages proposed but I had the best massages and treatments for my back pain that I could imagine.
What stands out in the Deepanjali retreat is the extreme kindness of the owners, Deepak and Suraj, two brothers who became like family members. With Deepak, the perfect guide to organize your trips and to drive you through beautiful Kerala, I visited the Palani temple and the famous Isha Yoga Center in Coimbature.
I highly recommend the Deepanjali retreat with its extremely friendly staff, the fantastic cook, the neat, modern and clean rooms, the professionality and care and for the overall light and pleasant atmosphere.
I can’t wait to return to Deepanjali.
